Mammoth Lakes Martial Arts / Mammoth Lakes Jiu-Jitsu

With the re-opening and remodel of the Snowcreek Athletic Club, I am happy to announce the “Martial Arts Program” at Snowcreek.  With approximately 700 square feet of mat space, padded walls, three full length Muay Thai heavy bags, an assortment of brand-new gear, and over 20 classes a week being offered…this is the ideal environment for both local and tourists to practice martial arts.

Each week the following classes are offered:

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu: grappling & ground fighting fundamentals

Women’s Jiu-Jitsu: an introduction to jiu-jitsu for ladies onlyJiu Jitsu Logo square

Chen Tai: self-defense system incorporating many styles

Little Dragons: a children’s introduction to martial arts

Cardio Kickboxing: burn calories while learning strikes and kicks

Kickboxing Fundamentals: learn to execute a proper punch/kick

Women’s Self-Defense: knowledge & skills to defend attacks

Shaolin Kung Fu: movements & breathing of the Shaolin Monks

Weapons Defense: defense against weapon attacks like knifes

The program was created by Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructor Eric Leach with the help of Keith Kliman and his Chen Tai Program.  Snowcreek has long been the home of the Mammoth Lakes Jiu-Jitsu team which is part of the Royce Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Network.  The program was previously operated out of the Mind Body Studio (yoga room) with roll-away mats that could be easily put down and removed before and after each jiu-jitsu class.  With the new dedicated Martial Arts Room, the mats are a permanent fixture, amongst all the other equipment.

Eric is a purple belt under Royce Gracie and his current students range from white to purple.  Eric welcomes visitors and tourist and says he is consistently blessed with guest arrivals ranging in experience from brand new students to established black belts.

Eric stated “Our jiu-jitsu visitors that join us for training when vacationing in the Mammoth area are from all over the world and bring an added ingredient of diversity and adventure to the dojo.  It is perhaps one of my favorite aspects about teaching jiu-jitsu in a resort destination area!”

So if you are planning to visit the Mammoth Lakes area and are a student of jiu-jitsu (or any discipline of martial arts), please bring your kimono and look us up!
